James W. Low
James “Jamie” Low is an attorney that has been practicing for nearly twenty years. His practice primarily consists of the representation of medical providers in civil litigation related to automobile accidents. Previous practice areas have included medical malpractice defense, legal malpractice defense, and natural gas explosion defense. Mr. Low graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Health Studies in 1998. He then graduated from Michigan State University College of Law in 2001.
Throughout his years of practice, Mr. Low has spent a considerable time in service to the bar at a local, state, national, and international level. Locally, he has been actively involved in the Oakland County Bar Association since 2004. He served as the Chair of the OCBA New Lawyers Committee in 2012 after first serving as Vice-Chair of Membership, Vice-Chair of Public Relations, Vice-Chair of Programs, and Chair-Elect. He also serves as a Master with the OCBA Inns of Court, after previously serving for many years as a Barrister and an Associate. Currently, he sits on the OCBA Membership Committee.
At the state level, Mr. Low currently sits on the Board of Commissioners of the State Bar of Michigan. He also currently serves on the State Bar of Michigan – Character and Fitness Committee, and has served in that capacity since 2014. Previously, he was elected to and served on the Executive Council of the State Bar of Michigan Young Lawyers Section from 2006 — 2011. During the time on council, he implemented various service projects to benefit the public and the bar. In addition, he was elected as the Secretary-Treasurer of the State Bar of Michigan Young Lawyers Section, serving from 2010-2011.
At the national level, Mr. Low currently sits on the Presidential Appointments Committee under a direct appointment from the President-Elect of the American Bar Association. In addition, he is serving a three year term as the State Membership Chair (Michigan) of the ABA, having been appointed to that position by the ABA President. Previously, Mr. Low served several terms as one of the State Bar Delegates to the American Bar Association House of Delegates as one of the 589 Members nationwide. He had also previously served several years as Michigan’s District Representative to the ABA Young Lawyers Division’s Executive Council. Notably, in 2011 Mr. Low represented the United States on behalf of the American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division in the International Debate Championship in Montreal and took second place.
At the international level, Mr. Low has served as the American representative to more than twenty meetings of the European Young Bar Association, including meetings in Paris, Barcelona, Brussels, London, Belfast, Edinburgh, Riga, Rome, Porto, Aix-en-Provence, Dusseldorf, Montreal, Copenhagen, Thessaloniki, Amsterdam, and Chisinau.
